So, maybe if you live in the area you've seen this fella on the side of the road. What is he doing? What's his story?! Does anyone out there know???
I've passed it many times, but most recently I could not NOT stop and take a picture. A close up. Know why?? It's ME! I imagine it's all of us at some point or other. Doing the juggling. The balancing act. The kids. The job. The house. The family. The commitments. The guilt! The guess work! But look at this guy. (Let's call him Elmer). Look at Elmer. He's doing it! He is strong, and somehow balanced, and he even manages to look pretty damn cool while doing it. If Elmer can do it so can I! And so can you!!!
OK enough introspection. This past weekend I had the delightful opportunity to take part in the Chick's Picks by Hillary event in Leesburg Virginia. I met so many wonderful people. Sellers, makers, customers, workers, restaurateurs, and of course Ms. Hillary herself !
Take a gander at these gems for instance:
Click on the photo to go to Kate's Insta page. She is one of the coolest people in the whole world.
And my girl Jenna! (same cool and beautiful name as my sis, so I knew I was gonna love her right away. Just sayin'...)
Jenna can print up any message you want! How NICE would one of these look on your book shelf? Or your mom's coffee table? Or your fireplace mantle?! People were ordering the sweetest messages...a mom for her oldest daughter moving into her first apartment: 'You are my sunshine'. A funny (obviously southern) gal for her bestie: 'Raised on sweet tea and Jesus'. And so many more!! My mind is racing with ideas for the holidays especially ('O Holy Night', anyone?!) She also does an adorable stack with all the reindeer nales on them. TOOO CUTE!
And here's another awesome find. I am the proud owner of one myself. Well, I ordered one... Allyson sold out at the show but took orders for the rest of us! This young woman makes these with her own two hands! I love a gal that can wield some power tools and Allyson of Sparrow's House is your gal. I can't wait to play!! Well, not in 100 degree heat. Autumn. I will play in the Autumn.
I could go on and on about all the wonderful people and items I saw over the weekend...but I will reign it in and end by saying how pleased I am that the one and only lovely Ms. Trina Lucido was able to come visit on Saturday as well! YOU. GUYS! I met Trina years ago at some sale or other and bought some of the MOST incredible vintage wallpaper from her! She has an eye for all things vintage, retro and inspiring. You've gotta check out her stuff!!
She's an artist, a crafter, a sewer, a collector, an entrepreneur, and simply a beautiful person inside and out. Seeing her work and beautiful array of hand picked items was inspirational then, and still is to this day. Thank you for who you are Trina!
Wow. OK, so, I hope you get the idea of how much I enjoyed being part of such a great group of women!
And now on to do some more juggling...and definitely CRAFTING!
Stay cool out there peeps! (Better yet just stay inside for the next three to four days- I think that's a better idea)
xo
